I am trying to trace either a relative, or find out more information about, John Peter Hutton ‘Pip’ who was in the army and later transferred to the RAF and trained as a pilot in the Second World War.
His wife Mary Hutton was living in Harnham Heights in October 1944 with two boys Peter and Timothy.
Pip Hutton and my father were very good friends and met regularly during the war. They had transferred out of the army at about the same time (The Loyals had been based in Portsmouth and Tyneham.)
I believe he went missing in the Bay of Biscay on September 9, 1943 while flying an aircraft out to Gibraltar, having already crashed into the sea and been rescued once before from Portugal.
I am writing a book about my father and would love to be able to add a few lines about Pip and perhaps have a photograph of him.
