I SEE an accident has happened at the top of Wilton Avenue, with the junction of the Devizes Road and the road to the Woodfords (known locally as Snakey or Camp Hill).
It was no surprise to me to see, as the junction is so poorly laid out a conflict of traffic movement is inevitable. Turning right toward the Woodfords on leaving the city is impossible to achieve without entering oncoming lanes. I would like to meet the road planners who devised this arrangement, for them to explain exactly how they thought this would work, in a safe manner.
I cannot be the only driver who considers this junction is an accident waiting to happen, and would like to see an alternative arrangement here. A roundabout or traffic signals would surely make this a safer junction.
I feel regular road users of this junction need to be voicing an opinion, and the authorities should be lobbied into taking another look at the layout. This should be done now, rather than waiting for a more serious incident to occur.
I would be interested if any other drivers feel as I do.
