IN the midst of all the criticism currently being made about some of our NHS hospitals, I would like to say how very impressed I was with the care I received at every level at Salisbury District Hospital, and particularly the Amesbury Trauma Suite. All of its many parts added up to an excellent caring medical whole at its very best.

Having the unfortunate experience of breaking my hip after a nasty confrontation with an ill placed bollard while shopping in Salisbury the other week, I received a full hip replacement while in the care of one of the several medical teams in the Amesbury Trauma Suite.

The high quality of the care I received at every stage of my treatment was nothing less than excellent from the moment the paramedics arrived to take me to A&E and delivered me into the nursing care of A&E itself, to the orthopaedic trauma team attending to my case, and the very many teams of caring nurses, right through to the high quality of the food provided by the hospital catering staff, and the light and airy ambience of the ward.

More than this, it was medical excellence that was caring and compassionate. As such, all of this must rate Amesbury Suite at Salisbury District Hospital as one of the very best of its kind within the NHS.
