Brockenhurst 4 Verwood Town 2
Sydenhams Wessex League Cup – 2nd Round
Verwood team: Fawcett (c), Faulkner, Jamison, Lynch, Homer, Dyer, Arnold, Anderton, Evans, Truan, Baguley.
Subs: Murray, Martin Newbery.
Scorers: Jamison, Faulkner.
VERWOOD Town fought gamely at Wessex Premier side Brockenhurst on Tuesday night but went out of the League Cup.
Mark Jamison put them level after going behind in the first half, but Adam Faulkner’s second-half strike was not enough as Brockenhurst ran out 4-2 winners.
Verwood have no game this weekend, a situation that perplexes manager Adie Arnold.
“We have only got two home games between now and Christmas,” he said.
“The fixtures secretary needs to have a look at themselves. We have to go to Stockbridge on a midweek date in November, but we have two free Saturdays in December.
“We have played Warminster Town and AFC Portchester twice. If there is a bit of needle in the first game, you don’t want the return game so quickly.
“Last season the fixtures were as good as gold.”
