DIVISION Two George & Dragon stunned Premier Division Porton Sports in the preliminary round of the Morrison Cup on Saturday.
The hosts were two up early on, thanks to a free kick and a backpost header.
Matt Lucas pulled one back for Porton with 12 minutes to go, but they couldn’t find an equaliser.
League leaders Nomansland won an all-Premier Division clash in the same round, 3-1 at RGV Netheravon.
Adam Donnigan robbed a defender to finish coolly, then Dan Hayward scored an incredible second, hitting a free kick from inside his own half over the stranded goalkeeper.
Netheravon pulled one back with 20 minutes to go but Lee Ricketts’ penalty allayed any Nomansland fears.
In the first round of the same competition, South Newton & Wishford beat Stockton & Codford 4-3 at home.
Richard Tutton gave them the lead with a great left foot shot, and he headed the second before completing his hat trick before the break.
Stockton got back in it with a second-half penalty, but it looked to be all over when Darren Abreu stroked in a Richard Tutton cross.
The visitors got two more back but Newton held on.
On Sunday, Whiteparish made light work of West Harnham in the first round of the Graham Chalke Cup.
The visitors raced into a 5-0 lead, with two from William Cranmer, the second of which was a 40-yard chip.
David Stacey nutmegged the goalkeeper from inside the six-yard box, and Dan Lumber and Craig Wallington also registered.
In the second half Cranmer won a penalty which Tim Mundy converted, and Harnham pulled one back from the spot.
Wallington’s silky finish made it 7-1, then Lumber also got his second of the game with a powerful drive from an acute angle.
The Boat House and Dinton were level at one apiece at half time in their Pete Fardell Cup first round tie, Harry Smith getting the hosts’ goal.
Dinton went ahead but The Boat House took control after that. Andy Hancock scored two individual goals, Dan Gevaux got a hat-trick, including a penalty, but the pick of the goals was Sam Chant’s long-range chip into the top corner.
In the first round of the South Wilts Charity C Cup, Chalke Valley Legends won at Wilton Club reserves.
Chris Highfield crossed for Darren Scammel to finish in the sixth minute, and they made it two on 18 minutes when Mark Batchelor finished off a good move.
Batchelor tapped in a rebound after Seb Dawes’ shot was parried after 38 minutes.
Dawes set up Scammel to make it 4-0 on 49 minutes and Wilton headed in a goal which their efforts deserved two minutes later.
Batchelor completed his hat trick when he found the bottom corner from 20 yards, making it 5-1 just before the hour.
