Salisbury travelled to local rivals Devizes hoping to improve upon the previous weeks result.

The line up saw both Dominic Porter and Bobby Brown missing with injury, and this certainly affected the ball carrying ability of the side as a whole.

Devizes looked relatively sharp in their handling and played a good offloading game.

Salisbury only managed to break into the home sides twenty two yard area twice during the first half and came away with a score on each occasion, the first through veteran campaigner Gareth Blackborow and the second through Joe Paden who was to be the visitors main threat.

The sides turned round with the scores at 17-10, Salisbury’s inability to convert a try brought sharply into focus by the kicking of one of their ex players, Matt Loader, playing at fly half for Devizes and contributing seven points.

Salisbury fly half Ollie Bate drew first blood in the second period with a penalty, but Devizes slowly stretched away with a further three tries as Loader added two more conversions and a penalty to his tally.

Full back Hugh Bate finished off proceedings with a try converted by his brother Ollie.

The final score was 39-20 and Salisbury will be working hard on the training paddock before the visit of Frome next Saturday.
