AMESBURY Town FC held a charity football match and fun day on Bank Holiday Monday, raising money for the Stars Appeal.
The match was played in memory of Brian ‘Sammy’ Dunford, who died earlier this year aged 85.
The two teams were Amesbury FC Legends v Dunford Saints FC, a team made up of Sammy’s sons, grandsons and family friends.
The legends won the match and were presented with the Sammy Dunford Memorial Cup.
Organisers told the Journal: “The whole day had a very special atmosphere and the Dunford Family would like to thank Amesbury Town FC and everyone who attended for making it such a fantastic day.
“Although the Legends won the cup, the real winner was family and community”.
A bench dedicated to Sammy has also been installed at Bonnymead Park, lifelong supporter, friend to and president of Amesbury Town FC.
