Tom Pugh’s rapid 72 laid the foundations for Farley’s second team to secure a 23-point win over Over Wallop.
Having been inserted, Farley made heavy weather of the visitors’ slow-paced attack - scoring just 51-3 in the first 20 overs. Local sports coach Pugh’s arrival changed the momentum.
Striking with intent from the start, he quickly found the fences with some well-timed cover drives. When the Wallop attack changed length, his pulls and cuts came to the fore.
The aggressive knock took Farley to 177-8, which offered plenty for the bowlers to work with. After an excellent start from Farley with the ball, Wallop’s experienced third wicket pair of Ric Dawson and Charlie Russell began to make good progress to the target. It took a good catch from Nico Fletcher, off the bowling of Jake Hand, to remove Dawson for 51.
From there, Farley began to take wickets regularly, with Hand grabbing 4-27 as Wallop were all out in the final over for 141.
Pugh made it an outstanding weekend by notching his first ton for the club on Sunday.
