Andover racing sensation Harry Hickton is looking to start his 2023 racing season with success.

Competing in the mini challenge this year, the junior saloon car championship runner-up is ready to go racing in his new car.

Continuing his winning partnership with Westbourne motorsport, Harry is looking to build upon his eight race wins from 2022.

His first race of the season took place at Brands Hatch on April 8-9.

The mini challenge saw a new car in the shape of a 1.6 litre, 130bhp, purpose-built racing weapon, which Harry has already been testing.

“Testing has gone really well, with the first test at the end of last year. Touring car ace Jake Hill supported me with driving tuition and by the end of the day we were on lap record pace. My times would have put me at the front of the grid last year”.

The 16-year-old Kimpton-based driver is also developing his racing career away from the one make championship, studying at Loughborough college with the motorsport UK Academy.

He is in his first year of the enhanced DiSE (diploma in sporting excellence) and is one of only 21 students selected to take part in the bespoke course.

Harry started learning to drive on private roads during the lockdown.

He always wanted to follow the path of his dad David Hickton, a racing driver and has won several honours.

His mum Nicola said it was inevitable that Harry would follow in his dad’s footsteps.

Local businesses are back onboard supporting Harry such as Vernham Labels, Hysons Accountants, Addventure and Woodstock plumbing and heating supplies.

He has also tied up with new partners for this season, Hippo Campers, Berkshire Pallets, Mark Fell Photo centre and DPH Vehicle Services.
