STOCKTON & Codford opened up a handsome lead at the top of the Salisbury & District Premier Division after beating fellow title contenders Bemerton Heath Harlequins by a solitary Lee Osment goal.

On a day when the top four were in action against each other, Heath slipped to fourth place at the expense of Whiteparish who won 3-2 away at second-placed Friends Provident.

Friends now trail Stockton by eight points but have three games in hand.

There was an upset in Division One as leaders George Hotel went down 5-1 at home to mid-table Enford.

That result means Chalke Valley Roofing's 3-0 victory against George & Dragon lifts them level on points with George Hotel, who have played two matches more.

Sunday Division One side New Inn (Amesbury) were among the goals again. They followed up last week's 17-3 success with a 9-2 win against Chalke Valley - Dan Jones leading the way with four of them. Jordan Girling (2), Craig Clarke (2) and Dereck Barclay scored the other which leaves them top on goals difference from Royal Oak (Salisbury).

Porton Sports booked their first appearance in the Lord Bledisloe Cup final in more than ten years by seeing off Tisbury 4-1.

Porton led 2-0 at the break courtesy of two Doug Mal-colm goals - one from the penalty spot.

He completed his hat-trick early in the second half with substitute Dave Forde making it 4-0 with a tidy finish before Tisbury netted a late consolation.
