LAVERSTOCK & Ford moved up to second place after earning four points in a week, but manager Gino Nardiello was frustrated that they didn't take all six.

Chris Hillman gave Petersfield Town a tenth-minute lead on Saturday, but the hosts were undeterred and turned it around before the break.

The Petersfield goalkeeper lost sight of the ball in the glare of the sun on 40 minutes, and Graham Mankin anticipated the error to score.

Then Dom Male pressured the defence into giving the ball away and set up Declan McGregor for the second.

Stock failed to get the decisive third goal though, and were made to pay in the last minute when Andy Jackson fluffed a routine catch and Calvin Swan equalised.

"We were comfortable and missed loads of chances to go further ahead," said Nardiello.

"It was a basic catch and I think it hit Andy's face. Petersfield were overjoyed with a point, and we were gutted we didn't get all three.

"We were never in any danger. Paul Lucas and Matt Baker had good debuts after signing from Bemerton Heath Harlequins, and we looked solid."

Laverstock take on Whitchurch United at home on Saturday, before travelling to Shaftesbury on Wednesday.

"Whitchurch beat Verwood Town 6-2 away from home, but I think they had a lot of midweek players drafted in.

"Shaftesbury will be a hard game as well, but it's in our hands to get promoted.

"Whether we finish first, second or third, the aim was to go up.

"It's just a shame that Tadley Calleva have pulled away so much, because I think we can beat them again."

Wayne Sale scored in the Stock reserves' 3-1 defeat at Winchester City on Saturday.
