SALISBURY have been handed a home start to the 2022-23 Southern League Premier South campaign, with Beaconsfield Town set to visit the Ray Mac on opening day.
Steve Claridge’s charges will host the Buckinghamshire side on Saturday, August 6, with just two points and two places separating the two teams last term.
An away trip to last season’s title favourites Hayes & Yeading follows the weekend after, before a first mid-week fixture against Hartley Wintney on Tuesday, August 16.
The Whites finish the month with two local matches, hosting fellow Wiltshire side Swindon Supermarine before a Bank Holiday trip to Poole for the Bokerley Dyke derby on Monday, August 29.
Boxing Day sees Salisbury visit divisional newcomers Winchester City, before Poole Town visit Wiltshire for the return fixture a week later on the New Year Bank Holiday, on Monday, January 2.
The last Bank Holiday of the season, Monday, April 10, will see Winchester in town at the RayMac, in what will be Salisbury’s penultimate home game of the campaign.
After a last away day at Chesham on Saturday, April 15, Salisbury host promotion candidates Weston-super-Mare on Saturday, April 23.
Pre-season preparations for the Whites continued at the weekend, as they held higher-league opposition at the Ray Mac on Saturday.
National South Havant & Waterlooville took a first-half lead courtesy of local goal machine Jason Prior, only to be pegged back by Sam Ashton’s finish from outside the area 10 minutes before the break.
There were no further goals as the game finished 1-1, with boss Claridge naming a more familiar starting XI to the side that fell to a 6-2 defeat to Portchester.
Trialist Ryan Penny featured for the majority of the game before being subbed off late on. Last with Chichester City, Penny previously featured for the Whites’ first team during the 2017/18 season after coming through the youth ranks at the RayMac.
