FORMER Cherries under-21s captain Dinesh Gillela has found a new club in the form of Salisbury FC.
22-year-old Gillela departed the Dorset club at the end of the 2020-21 campaign, going on to join Salisbury’s Southern League Premier South rivals Hayes & Yeading.
A brief stint with Sussex-based Lewes followed, before Gillela finished the campaign with sixth tier Hereford.
Speaking about the move, Gillela told Salisbury’s website: “I’m delighted to put pen to paper and commit for the season ahead with Salisbury and I’m excited for what the season will bring.
“It was good to hear from the gaffer, Steve himself. I mean, he rang me and made it clear he wanted to bring me in.
“It was nice to hear the manager have that confidence and of course that then gives the players that belief too.”
In joining the seventh-tier outfit Gillela reunites with fellow former Cherry Antonio Diaz, who confirmed that he was set to stay with Salisbury ahead of the new season.
According to Gillela, Diaz played a part in encouraging the right-back to join Salisbury.
He continued: “I know Antonio very well too and he had nothing but good things to say about the club and staff so I was eager to get it done.
“Me as a player, I’m a ball player who wants to keep the team ticking and I’m a character that will lead from the back.
“Put everyone on the boat together and give 100 per cent for the club and fans, who I’m excited to see!”
