SALISBURY juniors travelled to Bournemouth for the Wessex Young Athletes League season opener.
In the girls events, there were outstanding wins for U15 Kaitlin Miller 300m in 43.60 and 29.86m in the discus, U15 Imogen Gray 1500m in 5.09, U15 Florence Watling long jump 4.44m and U17 Livvy Hewlett high jump 1.55m.
Emily Bryant led the U13 girls home in the relay. In the boys javelin U15 Jacob Earle won with a superb throw of 31.81m.
Jessica Martin, Olivia Barnett, Thomas Dewey and James Gabriel made promising debuts in the middle distance events.
There were great runs from Yashvi Patel, Eryn Blackman & Felix Shield-Dean in the sprint events. Sophie Earle and Martha Makin were superb in their four events and battled all day against much bigger teams.
There were terrific debuts in the U13 boys events from Leslie Walsh-Evans, Jayden Main, Ashton Main and Freddie Bosworth. The quartet competed with distinction in four events, including the relay.
In an exciting U13 boys 1500m Freddie Bosworth, in the space of 200m, went from first to third, then back up to second in the last 50m. He narrowly lost out on a dip at the finish.
In the third Big South Conference All Time meeting, Jaymee Domoney shaved 1.3 seconds off the CoSARC 1500m senior record to set a new benchmark of 3.43.45.
