BISHOPSTONE'S John Bennett has been recognised as one of the UK's most promising young racing drivers.
The teenager, a student at Bishop Wordsworth's School, has been chosen by Motorsport UK among the 2022 programme selections for its academy, the governing body's talent development pathway.
Hugh Chambers, Motorsport UK chief executive, said: "Over its lifespan, the Motorsport UK Academy has been a springboard for many of Britain's outstanding talent in the sport.
"Lando Norris and George Russell, now two of Formula 1's real stars, both developed into the drivers they are today with the programme's support."
Bennett, who became vice-champion of the Ginetta GT5 Championship with five wins and 10 podiums in 2021, will be competing in GB3 (formerly known as British F3) for the 2022 season.
Taking to Instagram, Bennett wrote: "Pleased to announce that I have been selected for the Motorsport UK Academy Team UK Futures programme.
"Thank you Motorsport UK for this opportunity to continue learning and developing as a driver.
"I look forward to working together over the next two years."
