BEMERTON Heath Harlequins returned to winning ways in fine style as they put visiting East Cowes Vics to the sword beating the islanders 5-1.
This was Harlequins first win of 2020 having lost their previous two outings and keeps them very much in the promotion hunt in Wessex League Division One.
Bemmy are currently sixth four points outside the top four which is the number of teams that will be promoted this season.
Last Saturday, it was Bemerton's Paddy Crease who was first into action as East Cowes started the better.
The home side then had their first chance as Ryan Lewis forced the Iske of Wight goalkeeper into a save.
The visitors then almost scored, but Graham Williams cleared off the line.
Bemmy’s Charlie Burden and George Plank both had chances, before the home side took the lead after 35 minutes.
Leading scorer Justin Bennett diving into the box and scoring from close range.
Against the run of play on 53 minutes, East Cowes made it 1-1 as Jimmi Burton scored.
Bemmy re-took the lead 17 minutes later as Jake Burgess put away the rebound from Plank’s shot.
On 78 minutes it became 3-1 as Kane O’Keefe scored with a lovely left foot strike.
Bemmy then added a couple more goals in added on time at the end of the game.
The first came from Bennett and in the dying seconds a breakaway chance was converted by sub Eddie Perrett off the bar.
This Saturday, Bemmy haver a weekend off and return to league action on Tuesday night when Fawley will be the visitors.
