ALDERBURY under 12 football team have received their league champion medals. The team were crowned Testway league champions and cup winners, doing the double, in their first competitive season.
As previously reported, the boys scored an incredible 115 goals and only recorded one loss over the whole season in the league and finished the season by beating local rivals Salisbury in the cup final.
Further awards for individual football recognition were given out by Wayne Shaw, former Sutton United goalkeeper.
As well as winning the double the team recently took part in a football tournament entering two six-a-side teams. Both Alderbury teams reached the final without losing a match.
In August, the team will attend a international football tournament with teams coming from across Europe including; Holland, France and the Channel Islands.
It’s hoped that the tournament will be held at Southampton FC’s, St Mary’s Stadium.
Head coach Terry Pyke said that he is very proud of the team and of their achievements over the past season.
The boys are local and come from a variety of schools including; Trafalgar, Burgate, Sarum Academy, Wyvern and Bishops.
They all come together on and off of the pitch and are all good friends and are looking forward to playing in the under 13’s League Division One next season which starts in September.
