SALISBURY Ladies' Hockey firsts retained third spot in West Club's Premier Division 2A, despite a 4-2 defeat to top-of-the-table Newent.
The Lower Bemerton outfit got off to a super start by taking a one-goal cushion into the interval.
Kerry Jackson found space and dribbled past two defenders before setting-up Miranda MacTaggart who slotted home.
The visitors, who are undefeated this season, fought back in the second period and were soon on level terms.
Newent maintained possession and scored a further three goals to shock the hosts.
A late strike from Julie Selbie reduced the arrears but there were no further goals as Salisbury crashed to their first home defeat of the season.
They look to bounce back on Saturday when they travel to Redland UWE, who occupy fourth place.
