SALISBURY Ladies Hockey firsts were involved in a see-saw 12-goal blockbuster on Saturday.
A hat-trick from Sarah Brown, Kerry Jackson's brace and solo efforts from Ellen Trott, Pat Ham and Josie Steinson secured an 8-4 win over Hereford to protect third place in West Club’s Women’s Hockey Premier Division 2A.
The first goal in the end-to-end encounter arrived from the hosts following a well-worked routine.
Brown soon levelled before Jackson unleashed a fantastic strike on the edge of the D which rippled into the net.
Trott added a third before half time from a short corner to give the visitors a two-goal cushion.
But after the resumption the hosts hit back with three goals and it could have been more had England international Alana Mercer not pulled off a string of fine saves.
At 4-3, Salisbury had much work to do, and they turned the game on its head.
Brown netted two goals to conclude her hat-trick.
Jackson then made it 6-4 before Ham and Steinson added further goals to round off a resounding comeback.
They host top-of-the-table Newent on Saturday.
