SALISBURY City striker Matt Tubbs, who scored on his debut for the National Game XI in midweek, has been ruled out of the rest of the Home Nations tournament through injury.
Tubbs, who netted in the game against the Republic of Ireland, which England won 5-0, suffered a toe injury in the game, which turned out to be far worse than originally thought.
The player confirmed that the toe was in fact broken and that he would be out of action for the next four-to-six weeks.
As he is unable to play any further part in the tournament's games against Scotland (tonight) and Wales (on Sunday), the striker would be leaving the England party's base in the Scottish highlands.
City boss Nick Holmes said: "It's a great shame for the lad. But at least he got his chance and showed what he could do.
"He'd have been even more upset had it happened before he got to play in a game for his country."
Holmes added that he expected the striker, who bagged 30 goals last season helping City secure promotion to the Blue Square Premier, to make a full recovery well in time for the start of the new season.
