CENTRE-FORWARD Charlie Sheringham has been snapped up by Salisbury City on loan from League Two club AFC Wimbledon.

Sheringham, 25, joins the Whites’ Skrill Premier play-off challenge ahead of their nine remaining matches, starting with their clash with Wrexham in less than 24 hours time (3pm).

The signing of Sheringham, son of former England, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United striker Teddy, gives Mikey Harris another attacking option following the long-term injury of assistant manager/player Warren Feeney and Eastleigh loanee Ben Wright.

“It was important we added a fresh face before the transfer window closed,” City boss Harris exclusively told the Journal.

“He’s another option going forward and he joins us at a very crucial part in the season. It’s certainly an exciting time for our fans.”

Sheringham, who was sent out on loan from parent club Wimbledon to rivals Dartford last year netted four times in 10 matches, a record which didn’t go unnoticed with Harris.

“He’s got a good goal scoring record at previous clubs and is a very good player. He’s had a difficult time with injury in recent years but he’s exactly what we’re looking for.”

The striker, if featured, which is subject to Football Conference clearance, could be the first City player to end their 430 minute wait for a goal.
