In amongst the chaos on the pitch after the final whistle, the jubilant City goalscorer made a beeline for the nearest TV camera and was heard to say: "Oi, Bes. This is for you mate," before planting a kiss on the camera lens.
Already sidelined by a serious knee injury sustained in league action against Bognor Regis Town, Jon Beswetherick received a devastating blow during the week leading up to the cup tie - the death of his mother.
The City defender, who recently became a father for the first time, could be assured that, although he was not on the pitch in person on Sunday, he was very much in his colleagues' minds.
