LAVERSTOCK & Ford's Sunday team enjoyed a 3-1 home win over Cedars Bar, despite being a goal down at half time.

Lewis Brooks showed pace and power to equalise with a great solo goal within two minutes of the restart, and Billy Baker's goal direct from a corner gave them the lead. With Theo Holt and Jimmy Johnson now running the midfield, it was no surprise when Baker got his second.

Wanderers needed extra time to win at South Newton & Wishford in the Premier Cup on Saturday.

After a goal-less 90 minutes, a disputed extra time penalty was saved by Martin Tutton only for the rebound to go in off a defender, and Wanderers added another on the break.

Devizes Inn got back to winning ways with a 6-3 victory at Value Cars. Luke Chadwick and Ivor Leech got two apiece, and Ben Molby and Matt Derbyshire also netted.

FC Salisbury United followed up their recent Futsal cup success with a successful start to their league campaign.

United, nicknamed the Corinthians, went a goal behind to Swindon outfit DC Monsters but went on to win 8-2 with five goals from Tom Parker and three from Toz Judd.

“Having announced ourselves on the Futsal scene with our win in the Energiser Cup a couple of weeks ago, it was important we got off to a good start in the league and tonight has given us exactly that,” commented manager Steve Chalk.

“The lads did especially well to stay disciplined as the only way the other side could deal with us was by trying to kick us off the park but we stuck to our task and ultimately the scoreline tells its own story.

“There will undoubtedly be stiffer tests ahead of us, the first of which is next week against one of the league favourites which will give us a much better idea of where we are in terms of development.”
