Salisbury’s clinical finishing and cohesive play were too much for Gillingham, and Salisbury will look for another win next week in their last game before the Christmas break.

The Ladies 1s secured a crucial 4-1 victory over Winchester in a must-win encounter.

The match began with high pressure, and Salisbury’s nerves showed early on as Winchester capitalised on a lack of composure to take the lead.

However, Salisbury responded emphatically, scoring three unanswered goals to seize control of the game.

The first two came from short corner conversions by Nic George, and the third from a fantastic team link-up goal, slotted home by George for a second consecutive hat-trick.

In the final stages, Winchester launched a series of attacks but Salisbury's defence, and particularly player of the match Catherine Payne, were dominant and controlled the game.

With the game nearing its end, Salisbury sealed the win with a fourth goal, with Emily Rowlands slotting home following super link-up play.

The 4-1 scoreline ensured they took the vital three points.

The Men’s 4s beat Eastleigh 3-2, which put them at the top of Division 1 Forest with nine wins from eleven.
