Following successful bike events in 2022/23 where children’s bicycles were checked throughout the day, the bike-check team will be back at 'People in the Park'.
It takes place on Saturday, May 20 from 10am–3pm, and will see people providing free bike repair stations for children’s and adults’ bikes (please note that spaces for adult bikes may be limited) at Queen Elizabeth Gardens.
From simple puncture repairs to gear issues, the mechanics provide a free repair and maintenance service with the aim of increasing bike safety for children throughout the holidays. Parts (up to £15) and labour are free for all Salisbury residents who book a free slot.
The event is a collaboration between Rise:61 and the Cycling Opportunities Group for Salisbury (better known as COGS) and is supported by Salisbury City Council’s Communities Team.
Rise:61‘s bike hub is an initiative that runs all year round. Students are referred to it by local schools to learn bike maintenance skills and it also runs school bike clubs and restores bikes for affordable sale to the community.
Bike Hub manager Simon Bower said: “We love helping people of all ages get out and about on their bikes and we’re really happy to be involved in this bike repair event.”
Sign up by completing the form here to book your appointment. Spaces are limited, particularly for adult bikes.
