THE Solent Half Marathon was the second race in the Hampshire Road Race League, in which CoSARC fielded a small, but strong team.
The location was a hidden gem on the edges of the beautiful New Forest. The racers were afforded views of the magnificent coastal scenery and water buffaloes.
The course was reasonably flat and very well organised. The racers were treated to cake and beer after their heroic efforts.
Dave Gervais finished in 1:28:52 and earned himself a one minute PB. This was good training for Gervais, with the Clarendon Marathon on the horizon.
Ollie Stone ground out a four minute PB with a time of 1:29:56. Nick Lay raced to a four-minute PB in 1:41:19, while Joe Cunningham finished in a very respectable 1:44:52.
The Winchester Hilly Half Marathon was aptly named, as the course was indeed very, very hilly.
Despite the gruelling route John Roberts finished in a superb 1:44:26.
On a warm, autumnal morning at Salisbury Parkrun, a clutch of PBs went to Matthew Gervais 17:22, Kieran McManus 19:45, Olivia Barnett 20:26, Simon King 22:22, Barry Davies 24:11 and Michelle Boucher 26:55.
