AT THEIR first chance to compete in a county championship for two years, Salisbury Stingrays Swimming Club came away with a record medal haul.
The Wiltshire County Championships took place over nine days, with the club bringing home a total of 226 championship medals, including 69 golds.
Head coach Chris White said that the club had made huge progress, despite disruption caused by the pandemic:
"After just six months back in full program, the team are delighted with the record-breaking medal haul of 226," he said.
"This is a massive 107 medals more than the club achieved in 2019."
Salisbury swimmers won a wide spread of medals over all the races, including the distance events.
Georgie Byam (13) took gold in her age group for the 1500m, 800m, 400m and 200m freestyle events and Oscar Bellinger (14) and Theo Parker Minty (14) won gold in the 800m and 1500m freestyle events respectively.
With not much time to rest, Salisbury swimmers are now training hard for the South West Regional Championships which will take place in April and May.
