Members of seven different churches across Avon Valley gathered together on Sunday, February 19 to welcome The Right Reverend Debbie Sellin, Bishop of Southampton and Acting Bishop of Winchester, to St Mary’s Church in Fordingbridge.
Rt Rev Sellin became Bishop of Southampton in 2019, making her the first-ever woman to fill the role. She became Acting Bishop of Winchester less than two years later in 2021, when the former Bishop of Winchester, Tim Dakin, left the post.
Rt Rev Sellin led the Whole-Benefice Holy Communion service and in her sermon preached about the Transfiguration, inspiring all to use Lent to develop their relationship with Jesus.
