BEARDED dragons, colourful fish and guinea pigs were just some of the highlights during a class trip for Longford Primary School to the pet shop.
Students aged eight and nine were given the opportunity to handle and feed a variety of animals while learning about how best to care for them on a visit to Pets at Home, Southampton Road.
Administrator Katie Roche said: “After hearing about how to care properly for the animals, it was decided that gerbils would be the best choice of pets for our class.
“Pets at Home kindly donated a Gerbilarium and the children would like to say a huge thank you to the staff there.
"It was a very interesting and informative visit.”
