A NEW Lord Lieutenant for Wiltshire has been appointed by the Queen.
Sarah Rose Troughton will succeed John Bush when he retires on February 5 next year.
Mrs Troughton has held several voluntary positions both within and outside the county for a number of years. She is currently chairman of the Chelsea Physic Garden, president of Community First/Youth Action Wiltshire and a trustee of The Community Foundation for Wiltshire and Swindon.
She lives near Swindon with her husband, Peter, and has three children and two grandchildren.
The honorary role of the Lord Lieutenant is to be the monarch’s personal representative in a county Mrs Troughton said: “I am extremely proud to be taking on the historic role of Lord Lieutenant from John Bush, who had been a wonderful ambassador for Wiltshire.
"It is of course an exciting time to be taking over at the beginning of Her Majesty's Jubilee year and I look forward to enjoying some of the celebrations to be held across the county.”
