THE Journal’s Show Some Sense campaign has attracted a huge amount of support from around the city.
Posters have gone up in shop windows and on market stalls, and coming up to 1,000 people have signed up to back our call for Wiltshire Council to take another look at the astronomical parking charges imposed on our city.
City Centre Management has warned that shoppers will look elsewhere and that the minimum two-hour charge in Salisbury’s car parks could put people off permanently.
Six Salisbury city councillors have given us their support and are calling on people living and working in the city to do the same.
Our Postbag pages have been inundated with letters expressing outrage at the hike in charges that has seen visitors and those living in the city having to fork out what for some people amounts to a day’s wages for a week’s parking.
We also welcome the support of radio station Spire FM, and renew our calls to the council to Show Some Sense, and listen to the people of Salisbury.
