MEMBERS of the Conservative Party bade a fond farewell to Salisbury’s long-serving former MP at a party held in his honour.
The president of the Salisbury Conservative Association Lord Marland of Odstock opened his gardens for the occasion and about 100 guests, including new MP John Glen, attended.
Mr Key retired from politics at the General Election for health reasons after representing the people of Salisbury for 26 years.
Association chairman Mrs Penny Brown said: “He was enthusiastic, hard working and approachable and through his regular surgeries he met literally thousands of people who came to him for help over the years, acting as conduit and friend to those in need. “Robert has a great sense of history and his love for Salisbury is obvious and we are delighted that he and his wife Sue will continue to live in the city.”
