THE 40th anniversary of the carving of the Royal Signals badge was marked by about 400 guests at the Fovant Badges Society’s annual Drumhead Service on Sunday.
Each year the society holds a service in remembrance of the sacrifices made by British and Commonwealth servicemen and women over the years since 1916, when the first regimental badge was carved at the site.
The service was held at East Farm Fovant, with 37 Royal British Legion banners on parade, a guard of honour provided from the Royal Signals and a contingent of army cadets from Devizes.
Music was provided by the Shaftesbury Town Band andthe guest of honour and speaker was Major General Ian Sprackling, a former master of signals.
