CHILDREN affected by the 1986 Chernobyl disaster were given free eye examinations during a visit to Salisbury.
The youngsters were brought to England for a stay by the charity Chernobyl Children’s Lifeline and Specsavers offered tests and glasses when needed.
Anna Daily, store director of Specsavers in Salisbury said: “Regular eye checks are an important part of a healthcare routine for both children and adults and access to eyecare is something we take completely for granted in this country.
“Unfortunately, this is not the case for the majority of these children and as a result, their education can be hampered.”
This is the 10th year Specsavers has provided this service.
