AT Sarum St Paul’s Primary School, sports day was a little bit different this year.

On July 1 pupils got the chance to try out activities such as tae kwondo, rocket ball, martial arts, archery and even circus skills with coaches coming in to teach them new skills.

The school organised the all-day event as part of the new strategy it is taking part in: Strive For Five.

Teacher Lizzy Barratt said: “We’re getting the children to know the logo, by getting them to do Strive For Five’s five hours of PE a week, but in one day.

“This is the first time we’ve done it, we’re giving them a taste of things they don’t normally do as an alternative to lunchtime and after school clubs.”

The children wore wristbands in the colour of their houses, and dots put on their bands represented points for good sportsmanship, teamwork, and doing well in activities. The house with the highest amount of points at the end of the day would then win the trophy.
