MORE than 200 pupils from four primary schools joined together at Salisbury Cathedral on Monday to give a concert as the culmination of this term’s Singing Together programme.
Let’s Dance is the finale of the project, run by the Cathedral and the Cathedral School to promote singing in primary schools and those taking part were Coombe Bissett, Ludwell, Mere and Woodlands.
Ian Wicks, director of music at the Cathedral School, said: “The combination of good songs to sing and enthusiastic children is a joy to behold and this concert is full of songs with dance connotations – for instance Calypso, Mango Walk and Disco.
“The singing in each of the four schools has improved enormously over the weeks as the children have had fun learning basic vocal techniques and singing rounds, blues, jazz and echo songs.”
