PUPILS, parents and staff past and present will be celebrating the 125th anniversary of Hyde School.

To mark the anniversary headteacher Julie Dalziell has started a project to create a Book of Memories, collating reminiscences, anecdotes and photographs.

She said: “Hyde is a truly unique school and we are all very proud to be part of these 125th anniversary celebrations.

“We would love to hear from anyone who has any stories, memories or pictures they could share with us to help bring the past alive for our children and to add to our special anniversary book.”

Governor Rachel Fletcher added: “It’s a very special place which inspires great affection: people often comment on how lovely it is to see the children playing on the common at break and at lunchtime. I’m sure that’s a spirit that has passed down through the years.”

The school has just 65 children across seven school years and is firmly rooted within a close-knit community of villages – Hyde, Frogham, Blissford, Stuckton, Ibsley and Gorley - from which the majority of pupils are drawn.

Pupils regularly take part in local events such as hosting services at the small parish church, and in turn are well-supported in sporting events and performances by the whole local community.

Hyde School invites anyone with a memory of the school to get in touch or by post c/o the Journal offices in Rollestone Street, Salisbury.
