A TIRELESS fundraiser who has spent nearly 60 years supporting the work of Cancer Research UK has been given a national award for his outstanding contribution the charity.
Gerald Loader has been raising money since he was 15 – he is now 71 – and was made an honorary fellow of the charity at this year’s Flame of Hope Awards.
He was nominated for the award by Alison Theobald, secretary of the local fundraising committee.
She said: “Gerald’s commitment and dedication have enabled us to raise over £1million over the past 60 years. Without him that figure would have been much lower.
“I have yet to meet someone so dedicated and supportive of a charity and the Flame of Hope Award provided a chance to honour him for his outstanding contribution.”
