MEMBERS of Salisbury Railway Social Club are toasting their success after the club was chosen as CAMRA’s Club of the Year.
Every year the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) assesses and picks a pub of the year but, for the first time, this year they have also chosen a social club of the year. The Salisbury and South Wilts branch of CAMRA sent a panel around all the social clubs taking part and chose the railway club, which is on Fisherton Street, as the winner.
The club, which has about 400 members, normally serves two or three real ales at a time, depending on the function, with a regular ale called Doom Bar and a regularly changed guest beer.
Secretary of the club Mike Milward said everybody is delighted with the certificate, which is now hanging up in the bar.
