MORE than 100 former pupils of the Godolphin School gathered together last week for their annual Commemoration Day.
A tree was planted in memory of Sarah Streatfeild – a former head girl and latterly school governor who died last year – by her friends from Hamilton, her former boarding house. The memorial plaque was unveiled by Sarah’s daughter Janet, also a former head girl of Godolphin, with her own daughter Magdalene, aged two.
The Old Godolphins’ Association also presented the school with two commissioned pictures by local artist Bill Toop, one specifically in memory of Sarah, and both showing well-loved views from Godolphin’s grounds. The day was full of memories and friends reuniting, some after more than 50 years apart.
