WILTSHIRE College’s latest competition produced some simply topping entries.
Seven budding chefs from the Salisbury site battled it out in a competition hosted by the college’s contract caterer, Chartwells, to take the crown of the top pizza maker, under the watchful eye of Chartwells’ own pizza expert and the vice principal, Bev Flanagan.
The seven students, all of whom are currently studying catering, had been selected through a series of heats and, in the final stage, had to cook and serve their pizza creation for the judges.
Winner Alice Stoner, 17, works part time at the La Molina tapas bar in Market Place, where her father is head chef.
Her creation had a tomato and crème fraiche base, topped with asparagus tips wrapped in parma ham, finished with rocket and lightly dusted with parmesan cheese.
Alice won £100 of high street vouchers and will also see her creation appear on the college’s menu for all of her peers to enjoy.
