SALISBURY City Council is appealing for volunteers to help create a community garden and orchard at Bemerton Heath.
The garden will be managed and maintained by the local community for the benefit of residents and visitors to Salisbury. The idea for the garden was originally put to the council by a local resident, and may also be used by local residents to produce fruit and.
Seniors parks officer Chris Stringer said: “We really want to hear from local residents, groups and businesses who would like to offer something to this project.
“Gardens and orchards elsewhere have worked brilliantly in bringing together communities. They offer fantastic opportunities to make new friends and learn new skills, as well as the chance to benefit from locally grown produce.”
Anyone interested in volunteering to help the Bemerton Heath Community Garden Project can contact Salisbury City Council on 01722 342860 or visit www.salisburycitycouncil.gov.uk.
