PUPILS from Broad Chalke Primary School tried their hand at African drumming when a Senegalese drummer visited the school on Friday.
Professional drummer Seckou Keita visited as part of the school’s international arts and humanities week.
He performed in front of the youngest pupils and told them about the traditions of drumming before running workshops for the older children at the school.
Headteacher Margaret Pearson said: “It was fantastic, absolutely brilliant.
“He was very, very good in terms of performing for the children and also getting them to perform, and the way he related to them.
“The children loved it – we do a lot of music here anyway, and he commented on how rhythmic they were and how they were able to follow rhythms, repeat them and extend them.”
