YOU might not see it on the catwalk or the high street just yet, but a Wiltshire College design student has been impressing the shoppers of Tesco with her recycled fashion.

Eighteen-year-old Katie Hunter, from Farley, is studying for an Art and Design National Diploma at Wiltshire College and created three eco-friendly outfits as part of her course.

She has made an evening dress out of video tape, a swimsuit made entirely from coke and diet coke bottle tops and a dress made from Tesco shopping bags.

Katie said: “I was impressed that Tesco are stopping plastic bags and encouraging people to use recycled bags. I particularly chose Tesco as they are trying to be a green and ecologically friendly company.”

Her best friend Charlotte East, from Salisbury, who is studying the same course as her, modelled the dress at the Southampton Road store last week.

Katie added: “Tesco were very keen to support me in my project and I had a lot of assistance from all the staff at the Southampton Road store – Every Little Helps!”
