A WELL-KNOWN city centre manager is retiring after 11 years helping less mobile shoppers get around.
Marian Barton will be leaving Shopmobility, along with her King Charles spaniel Bertie, where she has been hiring out mobility scooters for just £1 a day since 1999.
She said: “I’ve enjoyed it very much – all the people I come into contact with are very nice.
“Salisbury District Council started funding the scheme, paying for the building and staffing and Wiltshire Council have carried it on, and there’s a Friends group who fund the equipment.
“I am going to be carrying on in a part-time job, but I am looking forward to getting out for longer walks with Bertie.”
