A Fordingbridge nurse who created a business from a garden shed has turned it into a thriving community concern in just 18 months.
Patricia Irons told the Journal that she believes it is a miracle that Care 4 U has taken off so|rapidly, now employing 17|members of staff.
And Care 4 U has moved from the former garden shed in Alexandra Road to 18, The Glasshouse Studios at Tinkers Cross with an official opening on June 1, attended by dignitaries, clients and staff members.
The company, which cares for the terminally ill and patients with medical problems, helps take the strain off hospitals in the area and provides top quality care for its clients.
Ms Irons said: “I have been a carer all my life. I nursed in orthopaedics and was a nurse in the palliative care unit in Whitsbury.
“I wanted to make a difference in people’s lives and was always very concerned at the numbers of people ending up in hospital when it could have been prevented.
“I began my company because I wanted to treat people before their illnesses or ailments reached the hospital stage. Care 4 U has never been about profit. I have always just wanted to help people.”
“This is a miracle. I have severe dyslexia and so the office-based work has always been difficult for me. But now I have staff who do this. I truly feel I am being guided and I know that I am doing what I am meant to be.”
Fordingbridge Mayor Malcolm Connolly said he was very proud to have such a caring and successful business in the town.
