THE Woodland Trust is asking Wiltshire’s residents to give up their time to the trust as part of National Volunteers Week.

The trust’s volunteers in the region contributed almost 16,000 days of unpaid work during 2009 – equivalent to 43 extra members of staff – and is now expanding its volunteer roster.

The trust has a number of opportunities available for volunteers across Wiltshire, including roles for speakers, media support, community tree planting and event experts.

There is also the opportunity to volunteer in the trust’s ‘VisitWoods’ project which launches later this year and will see the first comprehensive online database of 24,000 publicly accessible woods across the UK.
