A TEENAGER with autism stood up to address a room full of MPs and peers in London.
Henry Clark, 15, from Winterslow, travelled to the capital last Tuesday to talk about the disorder and his own experiences to help launch a new campaign by the Autistic Society.
His mother Gaynor said: “I am really pleased with the way he has embraced life and very proud of him. People with autism have a tendency to find it very difficult to be a part of a team and to have difficulty with co-ordination but Henry is a very determined person. He is an excellent sailor and sportsman and a good team player.”
Henry is a member of the Autistic Society’s Young Campaigners’ Panel, which is launching a new campaign called You Need to Know to raises awareness and educate people about child and adolescent health services.
Salisbury MP John Glen said : “There was a packed room of MPs and he spoke really well about what autism has meant in his life. He did a really good job.”
