STAFF at Salisbury District Hospital have won the Hospital Caterers’ Association Team of the Year award.

The award was in recognition of the work they have done to create good nutritional food for patients and provide a good all-round service for staff and visitors.

They had to demonstrate that they provide cost-effective nutritious meals, that they use patient feedback to improve services and that they have effective training structures in place.

They also had to provide evidence of achievements, which included success in regional and national catering competitions, improvements in patient satisfaction levels and an excellent rating in independent Patient Environment Action Team audits.

Facilities general manager Ian Robinson said: “This is excellent news for our catering staff and good for our patients as it shows that our catering staff can produce top quality food which meets the dietary requirements of our patients, visitors and staff.

“The award also reflects the way in which they have used patient feedback to redesign our menus and provide greater choice. I want to thank them for their hard work and congratulate them.”

The team received a certificate, a trophy and £500 to spend within the service.
