A MARATHON walk is being held to raise cash to support our forces heroes.
The Hero Walk, from Avebury to Stonehenge, will take place on June 27.
Downton-based charity Help4Heroes hopes to raise thousands of pounds for its work supporting injured troops.
The walk will offer the chance to trek through 6,000 years of British history, from the prehistoric stone circles of Avebury and Stonehenge to the ancient landmark of Silbury Hill.
The walk will cross chalk downs dotted with ancient earth-works, burial mounds and white horses carved into the chalk.
The route takes in the highest point in Wiltshire and goes through the most active crop circle area in the world.
There will be full support throughout the challenge with marshals and water stops along the route.
The walk, of 26.2 miles across Salisbury Plain, costs £65 to register, and there is a £250 fundraising target.
